Lyne is optimised for customer and employee applications alike. Most components are available in several sizes and can be used flexibly in different usage scenarios. To ensure a good developer experience, two presets are available: Default and Lean. They define the default sizes of the components if no explicit size is set. The «Lean» preset enables a particularly compact user interface. With this approach, we move away from the previous SBB Angular logic, in which customer and employee applications were strictly separated via CSS. Learn more in the Lyne Storybook.

Three themes are available, each intended for a different purpose:

The standard theme is used for customer and employee applications.

The off-brand theme is used for applications developed on behalf of the industry. SBB applications that are also used by the industry but are funded by SBB continue to use the standard theme.

In safety-related work contexts, the colour red may only be used for error messages. The safety theme is based on the off-brand theme and allows red only for errors.

The themes can be selected under «Theme» in the variable mode at page, frame or component level.
