You have the overall responsibility for a product.

• Sensitize yourself and your product team

  Familiarize yourself and your team with the topic of accessibility. Each role in your product team plays an important role for the implementation of barrier-free solutions. If you have questions or need further support, get in touch with your contacts.

• Consider accessibility in each story

  Ensure that accessibility is considered in each story and is adopted as an acceptance criterion. This will save you a great deal of corrective work and stress. Barrier-free products are the result of continuous consideration of measures that contribute to accessibility.

• Maintain the priority

  Accessibility issues are easily deprioritized in the backlog. Try to prioritise them appropriately alongside other requirements. As with all other topics, consider which points are the most critical for users.

• Plan an external review promptly

  Ensure sufficient time when planning an external review or any certification of accessibility. A typical review through Access For All takes around two weeks. Ideally, you should register for this at least two months in advance.
